Highway 3 Corridor Gets a Face Lift

PRINCETON- Resurfacing of Highway 3 between Crowley Pit and Whipsaw Bridge, 23 kilometres west of Princeton, will provide road users with a safer and smoother ride and reduce future maintenance costs.

“Whether it be residents, tourists, forestry or commercial transport vehicles, traffic will be safer on our highways, thanks to this resurfacing project,” says Boundary-Similkameen MLA John Slater.

The 34 kilometre resurfacing of Highway 3 between Crowley Pit and Whipsaw Bridge is expected to be complete by September 2010 by Peter’s Bros. Construction Ltd, who was awarded the project contract for $3.9 million.

‘Hot in Place Recycling’ is a paving rehabilitation technique that also provides environmental benefits, by reusing materials and reducing the quantity of fossil fuels and emissions that would otherwise have been generated for extraction and processing of new materials. With a reduced need to haul materials long distances to the work site, hot-in-place recycling saves transport fuel use and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
