$400K FOR 87TH STREET UPGRADES

OSOYOOS – Drivers and pedestrians will be safer and have a more efficient commute thanks to funding from the Canada-BC Infrastructure Stimulus Fund.

“This collaboration is a major step in improving the safety and infrastructure of one of Osoyoos’ busiest streets,” says Boundary-Similkameen MLA John Slater. “The provincial government is very pleased to partner with the Federal and Municipal governments.”

“I am pleased to be standing with our partners from the Province of British Columbia and the town of Osoyoos as ground is broken for this important infrastructure project,” says Okanagan-Coquihalla MP Stockwell Day. “Working together with all levels of government, we can build the infrastructure that will best serve our communities.”

“87th Street is used heavily by cars and pedestrians – especially school children.  Thanks to federal and provincial government grants, the Town is able to reconstruct the road, including curbs, gutters and sidewalks for enhanced safety,” says Town of Osoyoos Councillor Michael Ryan. “This project is one of the Town’s largest infrastructure projects for this year.”

The federal government and the province will contribute a combined $393,332, while the remaining costs will be provided by the town of Osoyoos. The project will occur between Jubilee Drive and 92 Ave.

Boundary-Similkameen MLA John Slater and the Honourable Stockwell Day, President of the Treasury Board and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway joined Town of Osoyoos Councillors Michael Ryan and CJ Rhodes on April 10th to break ground for the project.
